Let's work together
I teach communication techniques from multiple disciplines to help you improve your skills. From years of talk-back radio with national and local callers, to stand up comedy shows and emceeing comedy and corporate events, to hosting panel conversations for major festivals, to growing up between western and Indian culture across five countries, to developing a communication app, my life and work have involved creating good conversations with people from every walk of life. I trained in journalism and business in Australia and New Zealand and have run my own marketing business and worked as a freelance marketer and media professional over 20 years. I teach the skills gathered from this experience in a practical way.
Whether you're collaborating in a team, selling to customers, giving presentations, creating content for an online audience or any other setting that involves communication, you'll be able apply these skills to significantly improve the quality of your conversations and the results that follow. Here's a little more about my communication background, examples of my work and the skills I teach.
RADIO
I'm an experienced radio presenter, working across a range of statewide and national shows. You'll find my long-form work interviewing comedians and a therapist on a national show for ABC Radio, Australia called Help Me I'm a Comedian. The series explored mental health issues or life struggles that a comedian struggled with and their journey to tackle them. I share the skills behind having deep, interesting, insightful conversations.
STAND UP COMEDY
Comedy teaches you to connect with an audience, lighten the mood in a room, think and communicate laterally and use humour to tell different truths. Even if you don't plan on becoming a comedian, I teach these broad communication skills, so that you can use them in your own career and speaking situations. Here, you can find some examples of my stand up and crowd warm up.
BUSINESS
Alongside my media career, I have worked as a freelance marketer since 2004 and helped to set up marketing agency, Baker Street Marketing in 2016. Everything I teach is aimed at helping managers, employees and students to have better conversations. I have taught these skills to leading companies such as BHP in Brisbane, international academic institutions such as K.C College in Mumbai, small business owners, PhD students and podcasters across Australia and more.
EVENT HOSTING
I regularly MC events and host panel discussions on conversations that matter. From Mettlesome's events on hate speech to one of Brisbane's major council festivals, BrisAsia and more, I host corporate events and work with panel guests to create engaging conversation on topics that matter. I can drive key conversations that you would like to have at an upcoming event or conference.
COMMUNICATION APP
Most websites present static content to what they views as a 'target audience'. I've developed an app that allows you to treat your website visitors as individuals, asking them questions and then delivering tailored content that solves their problem. It saves your site visitors time, allows you to demonstrate your expertise and makes it more likely they'll want to get in touch with you. The app can be tailored to any website and feature text, video or imagery. I handle the whole process, including working with you to develop a strong concept, writing the content, filming video if required with yourself or external talent, coding the app, uploading it via a custom domain to your website and installing tracking so you can see the results it delivers.
